What do you do when you are young, seventeen and the future world years and years from now belongs to you? Whether it is the 2070's or more light time farther away than that, teenage Cassia's life, planned by THE SOCIETY whose officials now practically govern all of PLANET EARTH both planned and created each hour of Cassia's plans for her life which A COMPUTER pre-determined before her birth. Whether that is traumatic or not, no one and Cassia also knows because CITIZENS of THE SOCIETY are subject to memory loss reformation about all things that might mean empathy. Anything EMPATHY that should be brought onto the stage of a situation no longer happens. In this future no one has permission to feel sad or grieve about or feel anything about anything anymore. In fact, all CITIZENS of THE SOCIETY and that means adults especially must get permission for all that is thought, all that is said, and all that is done before it is done from the OFFICIALS. All behavior is WATCHED and all that HUMAN CITIZENS do at home and throughout society is monitored by WHITE-COATED OFFICIALS whom as HUMAN ROBOTS roam the planet as guides and instructors and watchers.

All love is now false and relationships are chosen by the algorithm of a computer byte. Cassia's whole life which the computer monitors, has been getting training to become a SORTER or a keeper of earth information just as her father and his father before him. But this morning she gets a message from the computer that her MATCH or the boy she is assigned to marry once she graduates from high school has suddenly been changed from the boy she has been dating to a different boy, a boy who actually the classification of a non-citizen who has been pre-scripted to remain alone for the rest of his life. Cassia, who feels her dilemma borders on a more mature and adult nature, boggles at the computer voice which has just stated, "The society is glad to present you with your match." Cassia does not know what to do about this. Later, her present MATCH brags about disregarding the reading of the COURTSHIP RULES as opposed to the maturity and contrasting and equally desirable personality of her childhood friend and ALSO MATCH who grew up down the street from her, works at the disposal plant.

Today, the OFFICIAL watches her all of the way back to THE GAME ROOM. The white-coated facilitators follow everyone everywhere. The G.P.S. Regulators for earth now, they also facilitate all classroom lessons for children and teenagers. While Cassia lives in a more monitored SUB-DIVISION, other people who live a different way live in places known as the OUTER REGIONS. "Re-assurance first. All else after," is just one of the memorized mottoes here at this future society. Cassie loves spending time with her grandfather and things are just fine until he slips her a poem by Dylan Thomas, something banned by the SOCIETY, whose only book of poems, THE 100 POEMS is the only poem book allowed.

Cassia whose new MICRO-CARD states the goal of matching as: "To provide the most societal functional citizens." As she sits on a bench outside of her YOUTH CENTER, AN OFFICIAL explains to Cassia that this might be a mistake. Cassia is so nervous. Is it possible that both of her MATCHES are a mistake? "Hot, and I shift a little," narrates Cassia under the hot street lamp. The OFFICIAL tells Cassia that perhaps someone is only pulling a cruel prank. The OFFICIALS will get to the bottom of this. And Cassia has so much more on her mind. Grandfather is approaching his 80th birthday and therefore THE FINAL BANQUET. There are so many SECRETS on the planet and most of those are tied up in the rules and the function of THE SOCIETY, a place where FAUX FORESTS and NATURE CENTERS require permission from THE SOCIETY to visit. How many SECRETS really dominate THE SOCIETY.? A place where no disorder and therefore no spontaneity is ever permitted. A TEEN DYSTOPIAN book of a trilogy of three which is sure to give teenagers a lot to DISCUSS, PERUSE and READ and THINK about. Pre-teens and teenagers, you are our future leaders. What will you do to change, design and re-create our PLANET and our SOCIETY for the better? And what about our beloved greater being? How do teenagers in this book view God, and Cassia's feelings especially? In short, how do you see God as fitting into our future world ?
