Born during the year of 1912 to a Swedish family came Wallenberg who grew up near the silent stones of Viking graves where once rose a beautiful summer home named Kapsta.
A Biography By Louise Borden
"On the island of Lidinga and he grows up among the famous Wallenberg family of bankers, builders and diplomats and artists who used their talents quietly."
Raoul Gustaf Wallenberg (1912 - 1922)
During the Holocaust Wallenberg set up buildings of safety for Jewish people in danger of Nazi termination and concentration camp retention, work farms and death to be able to find a place of refuge from that. He also both boldly and artistically found a way to make and enforce passports for Jewish individuals which the German occupation honored. He dedicated his whole life to serving the Jewish population. (#vacation #dream #summer)
A Wealthy Philanthropist of Compassion
After January 17, 1945 his family saw him no more.
The humanitarian who is not necessarily a household name among wartime heroes still did more work to save his fellow mankind than most wartime missionaries of his day. The author of the book spent years researching the kind man and spending much time getting to know his family. After he was detained by the Russians at war's end he was not ever seen again.
Stay Inspired
Wallenberg's work in Budapest led to the protection of some 100,000 lives. By July of 1944 the Nazi campaign to usher the largess population of the Jewish nation to Auschwitz already ongoing for a few months even under order by Winston Churchill to cease and desist, the deep compassion of Wallenberg for human life inspired him to become loud and bold during his protests toward the Germans to stop the violence.
